The Government of Malaysia through Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia provides four (4) scholarship programmes to international students to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia.
All programmes are offered to pursue studies at Malaysian public and private universities at Postgraduate levels. The scholarship programme is one of the government strategies to internationalize higher education in Malaysia to become one of the leading international education hubs in this region.
1.Malaysia International Scholarship(MIS) for Postgraduate & Postdoctoral Studies – open to all.
2.Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme(MTCP) Scholarship For Postgraduate Studies – MTCP Countries.
3.Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan(CSFP)-Commonwealth Countries.
4.Islamic Development Bank(IDB) Scholarship.
MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
•An initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brain from around the world to pursue advanced academic studies in Malaysia.
•Malaysian Government’s effort to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.
•Talented international students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular backgrounds
•Further studies in any selected and well-established Malaysian public and private universities at postgraduate and post-doctoral level.
COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME
•Awarded by the Malaysian Government to the nominated students from the Commonwealth countries to study at the post-graduate level in Malaysia.
•Government to Government scheme without any bond.
•The awards for Masters degree are between 12 to 24 months.
•Awards for pursuing PhD degree are for 36 months.
•Candidates pursuing full-time degree programme in Malaysia.
ISLAMIC DEVELOPMENT BANK
•This scholarship is a joint scholarship programme between the Government of Malaysia and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and valid under 5 years MoU.
•It provides higher education opportunities, particularly professional education to the IDB member countries and the Muslim communities in non-member countries to enable them to play an active role in the development of their countries.
•Scholarships are available for undergraduate, master, PhD and post doctoral level.
MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME
•140 countries listed under MTCP
•Awarded on a government-to-government basis.
•MTCP Scholarship is intended for promising candidates who may be expected to make a significant contribution to their own countries on their return from Malaysia.
•Scholarships are available for postgraduate studies level at Malaysian universities and is open to the citizens of MTCP participating countries, up to 40 years of age at the time of application.
•Number of scholarship varies from time to time.
•The duration of the award is 36 months for Ph.D and between 12 to 24months for Masters programme
