Background

This training empowers African educators to integrate digital tools into Mathematics and Science curricula. It bridges gaps in technology-aligned materials, boosts student engagement via innovative design and aligns with standards based frameworks like Ma-laysia’s and Japan’s, emphasising lesson study for sustainable impact.


Objective

  • Understand curriculum purpose, principles, proce-dures and enhancement using digital tools for effective STEM teaching;
  • Acquire knowledge of emerging technologies and apply them to curriculum design and instruction; and
  • Develop innovative digital lesson plans, assess-ment and implement technology-integrated STEM lessons with school try-outs.


Course Outline

  • Foundations of Curriculum Innovation for STEM: Theories, 21st century skills, global trends;
  • Comparative STEM Curricula Analysis: Standard-based, competency-based models from Asian and African countries; and
  • Digital Resources and Try-outs: Lesson plans, as-sessments, school-based implementation and re-flection.


Methodologies

This 3-week physical course includes lectures, group discussions, assignments and school try outs. All participants must prepare a Plan of Action and present it during the course. Participants are also required to prepare a Summary Report which include a summary of lesson learnt throughout the course in Malaysia and how it is applicable to participants’ respective countries.
